Lemon (Non) Shuffle, Featuring the letter A.

01 December, 2009 Posted by: Liz Lemon
This is pretty simple. I like to listen to this station where at 6 pm they have a request hour... with a theme. It used to be "The Last Letter Game" where you'd have to think of a song that started with the last letter of the song before. I guess they soon realized that no songs beginning with "q" would ever get played and switched the game to theme-based requests. I'm a sucker for a challenge so I end up calling in a song pretty much every night. Tonight's theme was songs that begin with A... or songs that end in A. I started thinking of songs that begin and end with A... and well there's a lot. And so that's my theme for today. I'm sure you all could suggest many more - so please drop into the Blog Shuffle thread and share whatever other songs you come up with!

A*a

1. Sia - Academia
I just had Sia on my last non-shuffle. This is probably not the last time. The more I listen to her, the more I crush on her. I suspect she gives a fuck about an oxford comma. What'dya think?

For some reason, I was reminded of this - my favorite Laurie Anderson song.

2. Deerhunter - Activa
It's a weird song, but it's a short one. Hang in there.

What is twice as long, but eight times as funny? The following - which for some reason this song made me think of...

3. Sarah McLachlan - Adia
Who would have ever guessed I'd find a reason to post a second Sarah McLachlan song? *tentatively raises hand*

4. Aisha Duo - Amanda
We'll call this "Intermission". Weird AND long. At least it doesn't make me think of yogurt or the fact that my fashion look is: "I have a Master's but then I got married". Also - it's a far cry better than the Waylon Jennings version of Amanda that got cut. And seriously - how often do you hear the xylophone as your main instrument?

5. Elliott Smith - Alameda
Bonus points for guessing this is the song I called into the radio station. Oh and hey! Don't forget to listen on Thursday at 3pm EST at 106.1 The Corner just to hear them play the same 5 songs that were posted on my last non-shuffle.

6. Kings of Leon - Arizona
There was Atlanta, and Alabama, and Africa and America.... But apologies to Alison Kraus, John Coltrane, Toto and Simon & Garfunkel. This list needed some hot boys with guitars. And at least one blatant attempt to come on to McLovin.
